Summer

Kristen Anderson, Poet, 7th grade

The days are long and full of carefree fun

An abundance of fruit is consumed

Life is exuberant and everyone

Loves the radiant look Summer assumed

The children play outdoors for hours and hours

School’s out so they needn’t study or work

They can spend their time amidst the flowers

There’s nothing for them to avoid or shirk

The inspiration of many a peace

Of great writing, artistry, and song

Summer’s great beauty and wonder won’t cease

‘Till autumn’s chilly weather comes along

Summer, summer, the most vibrant season

Summer, summer, it’s beyond all reason
