Snow Day

Snow Day

Snow falls down in a swirl of white

It seems a fire will be lit tonight

The windows are covered in frost

It seems inevitable that gloves will be lost

Nothing beats that first glance

Staying inside, not a chance!

The sky is gray

But it’s time to play

Snow in all kinds

Laughter, no whines

Angels are made with grins on faces

Sleds are dragged in hopes of races

Snowballs are thrown all in good fun

Whose fort will be number one?

Oh, there’s nothing like that first step on the powder

A crunch below, that feels much louder

Icicles hang off every nook and cranny

Nothing about this feels uncanny

What joy it brings for all the kids who wished for a day off

Inside out PJs and spoons under pillows are well worth the pay off

When kids come inside

Off with the jackets, boots, and gloves

Back to a world still filled with love

But as the day comes to a close

Every child knows

What a magical day it was

If only this moment could be paused
