Dear sixth and seventh graders,
Moving from elementary school to middle school is a big task, and it may not be easy for everyone. Every grade has its challenges, but as you get older it gets a little easier because you know what to expect. Starting a new school can be difficult, and part of this difficulty is making friends. Some people already have friends from elementary school, and some just make friends easily, but it’s ok if that is not the case for you. Always remember to be kind, because more people will want to become friends with you. During the school year, you may end up with different friends than who you were friends with at the beginning of the year, and that is fine. In sixth and seventh grade, my advice is to work hard to get good grades, but it is ok to make mistakes in the process. There are many resources at school that can help, if you are struggling such as academy, math support, and tutoring. Lastly, I definitely advise everyone to try and stay out of drama. Drama can lead to unnecessary problems, and it can make you feel bad about yourself. People will be more inclined to become friends if they trust you to stay out of drama that can harm them. Middle school can be a very strange experience at first, but it will definitely get better throughout the year.
