Thanksgiving is a very popular holiday in America. However, it is not celebrated the same in every family. Some may eat different foods, have different traditions, and different decorations. Most families watch Football when Thanksgiving comes around. However, my family doesn’t watch American football, so that tradition usually goes out the window when we are with family. My family does the usual traditions, and we eat the traditional food. Turkey, Cranberry sauce, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, pumpkin or apple pie, gravy and more are all things my family eats on Thanksgiving. However, we usually host a big party with my family and friends. We eat lots and lots of food, and we separate the kids table and the adults table. Someone will give a toast to what they’re thankful for. They usually stay the night and sleep over. We usually play some video games and charades when they come over. We’ll sit outside near a fire too, or simply just inside or talk. What makes my family’s Thanksgiving so unique is that none of the people who are there celebrated this holiday as a kid. They are all friends from where my parents grew up, in Colombia. Most families in America speak English, but my family speaks Spanish, so the only thing you’ll hear when we have our party is Spanish. My family tried to keep Thanksgiving as traditional as possible, but those are the things that set my family apart from others in the United States.
