Thanksgiving is a national holiday that many families celebrate in all different parts of the country. While there are many Thanksgiving traditions that are common throughout all families, many often have their own special traditions that add to the fun. For example, Thanksgiving at my house looks very typical to the “traditional Thanksgiving”, however when one is to take a closer look at the food, that opinion can vanish in an instant. Our table has all of the typical foods, but there is always an abundance of Greek food throughout the night. When my grandmother was 23 years old she immigrated to America from Cyprus, and brought her food culture along with her. Ever since I was a baby my grandmother would always introduce me to different Greek foods, partly because she felt it was important to share our roots, and partly because her food is incredibly delicious. Ever since my Grandmother has been celebrating Thanksgiving, she has made sure to incorporate both cultures into her food, making this holiday all the more special.
