Family means everything to me and Thanksgiving is a time of celebration and love. We always drive up to my parents’ small hometown in Saint Albans, Vermont and stay at my grandma’s house. Although we follow the American routine thanksgiving which consists of football, turkey and wishbones, we have a few other traditions up our sleeves. One of the main being one I share with my Sitto. Using an old family recipe, we make pies every single year. But the special part is what we create with the leftover pie dough. It’s crazy that people throw it out because with a little sugar, cinnamon and time in the oven, it’s a brand new dessert. Making it always makes me feel closer to her and it tastes great.
