The first 2 weeks of Pelham Middle School have provided much entertainment and competition among many of the students within the 8th grade. Students have flocked to the school in large masses and despite many changes in policies, are thriving within the school year so far.
To kick things off, we have received the announcement of the spongebob musical play, which allows anyone to become one of the characters within the play. In an interview with one of the 6th grade students, they stated that “I am looking forward to the play. It kinda came out of nowhere but I’ll definitely participate.” This has taken a role in connecting many students of different grades to hopefully create a beautiful display of acting and singing.
And what is probably the biggest event of the school year so far are the presidential elections. Here we have had many candidates for roles within the school with some using heavy campaigning as their main strategy. Here, we have mainly followed the treasurer candidate, Emmet Cho and their strategies to hopefully win the election. Emmet Cho and their campaign manager Kesten Scepanovic have worked together setting up posters around the school in an effort to spread awareness of their participation and efforts to hopefully win the role of treasurer. The treasurer campaign was serious competition though, Reagan Bardolf and Oliver Bronson also being 2 other favorites to win the election for treasurer. Speeches for the government roles occurred on 9/18/2024 in which each candidate gave reasons on why you should vote for them. With the scene being so competitive there’s no telling who will come out on top.
Clearly our school year has come across a great start and hopefully we can keep this going for the entire year.
