Field trips, we know em we love em. They are fun and exciting. Definitely a positive part of school. BUUUUUT, what about from an educational standpoint. Well this year in 6th grade we went to Ella Enchanted after reading the book. Now we are going to a Rockland Boulders baseball game in JUNE! So, should we get more field trips? The baseball game is supposedly for statistics. So instead of 2 a year I think we should do 3 – 4 a year for maximum fun and maximum learning. If I wasn’t thinking about education I would say 7 – 8 but that would be bad for learning and budget and a bunch of other important things.
All in all, from an educational perspective, 3 – 4 field trips would be ideal. They don’t have to be big, just little things. This will give kids a break and can sneak a little learning in.
