Kids count down the days till Halloween every year. Some plan their costumes as far as a year in advance. Halloween is supposed to be a day for fun and tricks. Even though it’s a joyous day for many, there are still precautions you should take to help keep yourself safe. Many people are on their way home from work when kids go out trick or treating. And with the sun setting at nearly 5pm every day it will be hard for them to see a kid in a dark costume. On Halloween you should make yourself known to drivers. There’s a few different things you could do to help protect yourself. One thing you could do is bring a bright candy basket since you’re always holding it by your side. Because of the bright basket, drivers will be able to see you crossing the street or passing by driveways. You could also choose a bright costume like a ghost or an angel. One last trick you could use is bringing a small light reflector that can go on your wrist like a bracelet. The light reflector would always be a bright shining light like a flashlight, but when a car is driving by, the reflector will shine a bright light (similar to the headlights) to send them a signal that a kid is there.
