Hi, Pelicans! As always, the start of school means the start of sports. Specifically modified sports. Here are some tips and reminders to make sure you have as much fun as possible on the field! And the rink. And the track. You get the point. First of all, you should assume modified practices will be every day after school with games 1-2 times a week. In my experience with modified sports, this is pretty standard, so you should expect this unless a coach tells you otherwise. This also means you should take into consideration the fact that you will be home later when planning out homework and after-school activities. Secondly, you must sign up for modified sports through a platform called FinalForms, so make sure you and a parent or guardian have accounts in order to sign up. Another important thing to know is that most teams have a group on SportsYou, an app that allows coaches to post important information to players. Make sure you install SportsYou on your phone and get the team code from your coach ASAP. One thing you should always keep in mind is that modified sports reflect greatly on your character, and because your modified sport and academic life are intertwined,  poor sportsmanship on the field can negatively impact your school life and vice versa. Prevent this from happening by trying hard in practice, notifying your coach through email if you must be absent, and being kind to your teammates and opponents. It is important to keep these things in mind, but above all else, have fun. See you on the field, Pelicans!
