Elf on a Shelf

Could you imagine

If you were an elf 

Sitting on a shelf

Waiting all day to take flight

Leaving for the north pole at night

Returning home in a different place

Putting a smile on a little kid’s face

But when the new year comes

Presents are opened

And you had your fun

Christmas is over, before you know it,

And your time here is done.

You leave swiftly in the night

And live some time by yourself

Until it is time to leave Santa’s workshop

And be back on your old little shelf.
