Here’s a recipe for brownies that will leave you with a delicious snack impossible to resist!

Ingredients:

  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2/3 cup butter or margarine (Tip: a typical stick of butter is 1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 & 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (Tip: if you would like, you can skip the salt but use salted butter)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (dark chocolate is highly recommended) (Tip: most bags of chocolate chips that you can purchase contain about 1 cup, so you do not have to measure the chocolate chips unless you want to be especially precise)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 13x9x2 inch baking pan.
  2. Stir together cocoa and baking soda in a large bowl, stir in 1/3 cup butter (that would be half the butter required for the recipe). Add boiling water, stir until the mixture thickens. Stir in sugar, eggs, and the remaining 1/3 cup of butter. Stir until the mixture is smooth. Add flour, vanilla, and salt, stir them in fully. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour the concotion into the prepared pan (from step 1).
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the brownies begin to pull away slightly from the edges of the pan. Cool the brownies completely in the pan, on a wire rack. Cut into squares. Enjoy!

If you would like, you can experiment with this recipe by adding different types of chocolate or including nuts like almonds, pecans, or walnuts, or by using elements like frosting and whipped cream to top off the brownies.

Good luck!
