Leaving
October 10, 2018
We’re gonna miss you on these raggedy streets
With your pep in your step
And your trash can drum beats
And that old brick wall with the ivy growin’
It ain’t’ gonna stop just because you’re goin’
I know you’re leavin’ to a better place
You’ll see people
With their fancy hair
And a fancy face
But when you see them
Remember us
What a time we had
In that broken down bus
I know you have to leave
You’re a star and you know it
A star
You have to go and show it
Show them who you are
You are a great person
You’ve been a great friend
If there is one thing I know,
It’s that
This ain’t the end

Partings, saying good-bye…life does continue. We have our remembered images of shared joys. Thank you for this poem.

I wrote this poem after reading some of maya angelou’s poetry. She is so inspiring.

This is an amazing poem and would probably make a fantastic song.

This poem is great! I imagine it as a rap about someone leaving their hometown for stardom….
