Winter Sonnet

Kristen Anderson, Poet, 7th grade

A thin layer of snow rests on the ground

It slowly grows from the flurries above

The intricate snowflakes swirl downward bound

Delicately landing upon my glove

All the trees but the evergreens are bare

Nothing to dress them but the pure white snow

In this frigid bracing wintertime air

In this heavenly beautiful snow show

As the snow piles, children go out to play

Making snow forts, snow angels, and snowballs

Sledding down hills a great deal of the day

Joyful despite their falls

Snowflakes, icicles, holidays, and more

A season of merriment to the core
