Depression Sonnet

Kristen Anderson, Poet, 7th grade

When the world collapses around you

When emotions are always running high

When all that was normal is strange and new

When all you are able to do is cry

When you are nothing if not an issue

When even your family and friends agree

When it’s not only them but also you

When you know that you will never be free

When any bit of happiness is rare

When the solution’s difficult to find

When suffering seems to be only fair

When darkened is what once so brightly shined

When life has taken the path of the stark

What’s there to do of the infinite dark?
