UNUSUALLY POWERFUL EXPLOSION IN SPACE DETECTED

Recently, on October 9th, 2022, astronomers across the world observed an oddly rare explosion coming from outer space.

These powerful explosions, known as gamma ray bursts, can cause a super powerful and strong explosion. This was triggered by a “supernova.” Let me make this clear: This is NOT your average playground” supernova”. Supernovas are made by a large star that exploded. And for a supernova to produce such a huge gamma ray burst, (like the one we witnessed) the supernova would have to be at least 30-40 times the size of the sun. I know that sounds big, but most stars in the universe are bigger than the sun.

Astronomers have NEVER seen a gamma-ray burst in our “galactic neighborhood.” Some small supernovas are due to explode about every century, but a large supernova exploding in the milky way’s proximity is extremely rare, and can only happen every million years.

I bet that you’re wondering what happened to this exploding star. Well, after a supernova dies, it becomes a black hole, which is basically a strong gravitational pull into a black void that slows down time. In other words, if you were to be sucked into a black hole, your body would immediately stretch into a long tube, causing your body to shut down. Anyways, a super massive supernova would cause an extremely powerful black hole (aka, we have a new black hole near us). This new black hole has appeared to be the closest black hole to earth. Don’t let this scare you, though. This black hole is so far away it won’t have any impact on earth for a VERY long time.
