The Middle School Drama Club has started rehearsing for their musical this year! Mr. Beck, the director, selected the musical Once On This Island Jr. for their show this year. The musical is about an island with peasants on one side and wealthy French people on this other. The peasants constantly pray to the four gods, Asaka, Goddess of the Earth, Agwe, God of Water, Erzulie, Goddess of Love, and Papa Ge, God of Death. A girl was saved by the gods during a storm and two peasants found her, raised her, and named her Ti Moune. Ti Moune, now grown up, wishes to have adventure and to fall in love with a wealthy man. The gods decide to send her on a journey of love and death, and Agwe creates a terrible storm, causing a wealthy man, Daniel, to get in a car crash. Ti Moune comes to his rescue, and they fall in love. Will they get their happily ever after? You will have to go see the show to find out. The show is very lively, with lots of singing and dancing. The cast and crew are working hard everyday in rehearsals to produce a wonderful show. The show opens on January 18th and runs until January 21st. Hope to see you there!
