Murphy seemed harmless on the surface. There was just one problem: she was a DOG!!!! But where are my manners? My name is Mr Ghibli (ji-bl-i). I am the pet hamster to a family that lives in Pelham NY. ANd when i last wrote in my diary I told you about Murphy, Murphy was the family’s pet dog and she was very scary but all dogs are scary to hamsters I met Murphy last tuesday when i was happily napping away and I suddenly woke up to the sound of heavy breathing I carefully opened one of my eyes and saw a giant and wet nose pressed up against the glass of my cage I squeaked and scurried myself into my burrow and then i heard footsteps come into the room it was my owner liam “no Murphy you are not allowed in here please leave” Oh thank goodness My savior liam I poked my head out of my burrows and saw Liam leading Murphy out of the room “oh im soooo sorry Mr Ghibli I promise murphy will never scare you again” Oh thank you Liam I said but as usual all that came out was squeak-squeak-squeak. All that day I sat in my cage and wondered, wondering how a family as kind as the one that I was living with could have something as scary as a Murphy living in their house. But the next day something bad happened. If you could believe it, it might be worse than Murphy. It was CAGE CLEANING DAY! It started innocently enough I woke up and liam came into the room and then he said it “Mr Ghibli time for your cage cleaning” What a cage cleaning was I had no idea but I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. Liam pulled on gloves and put some treats in my cage so far so good but then he pulled me out of my cage and put me in an enclosure for me to run around in with toys and some food sprinkled around it. I saw him taking out all of the stuffing and threw it out and took out my wheel, my food bowl and my water. He added more food to the food bowl and added fresh water to my water bottle and placed fresh stuffing in my cage. I know I should be grateful but I was slightly annoyed. That he had ruined my burrows after he was done he placed me back in my cage and gave me a pet on the head and left me as I sat there I reflected on what I had been through over the past few days I met murphy (Who was very scary) I experienced my first cage cleaning (an interesting experience) so now I finish this part in my diary I am preparing to take a nap but don’t worry ill be back bye -Mr Ghibli.
