A pumpkin aroma dances through the air pleasing our nostrils
The crunch of the leaves and the whistle of the wind create an autumn symphony
And we give thanks
Our aunts and uncle hug us tight till we cannot breathe
We share laughs with our cousins till our stomachs hurt
And we give thanks
We prepare our food with the secret ingredient of love and gratitude
Grandmas will sprinkle care into their casseroles
Moms will mix kindness into their mash potatoes
And we give thanks
The food will fill us up like a balloon
And we will make jokes about how were going to pop
And we give thanks
The night ends with bittersweet goodbyes
As we hear the shut of the front door
This special day overflows with gratitude
Yet tonight we lay alone in bed
Wondering, why don’t we give thanks everyday?

This is soooo good, Eva!!!!!!! I love how you used a repeated line instead of rhyming in order to tie the poem together! Also, the last two lines gave it so much more depth!!!!!! <3
