Lines in the sand

Stars that speak of everything and nothing

The clouds that never seem to fade

Sometimes when i look at them i think of you

I see your face

I hear our childish laughter

I smell freshly cut grass

But i can’t seem to remember your face

It’s sad, how i see you everyday

And i don’t know who you are anymore

I remember watching you draw that line in the sand

Stepping over it

Away from me

From us

And you didn’t look back

Because you grew up

You moved on

But I didn’t.

I don’t think I have yet.

When you walked away,

The sun frowned and hid beneath the clouds

And the rain was loud

We used to say we would reach the stars someday

But the stars we could reach

Were just starfish on the beach.
