Every Last Word follows a high school senior, Samantha “Sam”, with OCD and anxiety who has been “popular” her whole life. One day, she meets an edgy new friend, Caroline, who shows her a group of poets who meet during lunch in a secret room in the school. This story follows her as she struggles with balancing her old life as Samantha, with her new life as Sam. This novel illustrates the struggle of finding your people and your true identity. It also brings awareness to anxiety and OCD as she sees a therapist weekly and endures several anxiety attacks. I read this in 7th grade (I am in eighth) and this book cannot be beat! With tons of juicy drama, a love interest, and a shocking twist at the end, this story is 100% worthy of being your new favorite book.
